What does this resource cover? 

This lesson was created by CommonSense Education and will help eighth grade-aged students understand the risks and potential consequences of sexting. Downloadable materials are available in both English and Spanish.

What will community members learn? 

According to the included lesson plan, after learners complete this lesson, they will be able to:

  • Compare the risks and benefits of self-disclosure in relationships
  • Identify the risks and potential consequences of sexting
  • Use the Feelings & Options thinking routine to consider how to respond in situations where sexting could occur

How long will this program take?

  • 50 minutes

Projector, projection screen, computer with Internet access for the instructor, lesson slides (downloadable), Sexting, Relationships, and Risks video (downloadable), handouts (downloadable)
